This wine is a deep cherry red. Aromas of blackberry and blueberry meld with savoury oak notes. The palate is medium bodied with nice dark red and black fruit weight.
2016 was a warm and early vintage, providing good conditions for ripening full bodied red wines like cabernet sauvignon. We have blended a small percentage, about 4%, of mouvedre into the wine which adds some mid-palate complexity by layering in a different fruit and tannin profile. The 2016 red wine tannins have matured relatively early and make for good drinking now without need for further aging.
Serve with a char roasted leg of lamb (to medium rare) accompanied by mint sauce to bring out the herbaceous notes in this wine.
