Matt Fowles and Victor Nash tasting wild ferment Chardonnay

We love sourcing food from the great outdoors and matching it to our wine. In fact, it was our love of real food - wild meat and home grown veggies - that inspired us to make a range of wines to complement the different texture and intensity of wild meat: Ladies who Shoot their Lunch and Are you Game?

Fowles Wine grapes

For us, like many other wine growers, the start of each vintage brings with it excitement and apprehension. You can't help but conjure up all sorts of scenarios and get butterflies in your stomach as a result. Happily, we're thrilled to say that vintage 2015 was the stuff of dreams, not nightmares! Cool white wine with a distinctive perfume and zesty personality seeks dish with clean flavours and interesting textures for palate pleasures…

We reckon this is exactly the type of message you would see on a dating website if wine and food were real people. Obviously they’re not but outside of this little fantasy scenario, food and wine are actually natural bedfellows that have a long history of partnership at the table – something we’re going to explore here.

Overcheck herringbone tweed swatch

Here at Fowles Wine we love tweed and don't need much of an excuse to get dressed up in it. In fact, we'll be embracing the tweed theme at our upcoming #MFWF 2015 event where we'll be awarding a prize for the best dressed for those who share their photos on social media. Remember to use the hashtag #MFWF for your chance to win a 'gun case' of Are you Game? wine.
