The name Arneis means little rascal, but sometimes even little rascals behave! 2021 was a rare vintage where we had the unusual combination of higher yields and excellent quality and flavour. This was the best Arneis crop we have ever seen, with uncharacteristically uniform bunches and an even canopy.
Our Strathbogie Ranges Arneis shone this year. The grapes were crushed quickly after harvest to preserve the delicate fruit flavours. The wine was then fermented in stainless steel using a selected yeast to heighten aroma and contribute citrus flavours, and then kept on lees for 10 months to contribute richer texture and mouthfeel. A dash of Riesling (12.7%) added acidity, structure and clean, crisp citrus notes.
