Deep, dark red with bright edges.
Aroma
Vibrant aromas of plum, blueberry and lavender with hints of pepper, tarragon and cassis.
Palate
Dark plum and blackberry meld with hints of black pepper and olive. Ultra fine, mouth coating tannins and a smooth finish.
2020 was a warm vintage with low yields, providing excellent fruit quality. Mourvèdre grapes thrive in warm conditions, so we were able to pick the fruit when it had a lovely balance of sugar, flavour and tannin.
The fruit was picked using a selective harvester on an early morning in April 2020. Some of the grapes were gently crushed while some were retained as whole berries, then left on skins for 9 days. The juice was fermented with wild yeast for added complexity and texture. The vast majority of the wine spent 14 months maturing in 50% four year old and 50% eight year old French oak puncheons (500L). The remaining 10% of the wine was left in stainless steel for a fresh, fruity parcel.
