This wine is a dark cherry-red in colour with subtle violet undertones. Rich Cabernet aromas fill the air with notes of blackberry and liquorice, and hints of vanilla spice from the oak. On the palate, ripe dark fruits, firm acid and soft tannins create a balance that is perfect for ageing.

Wine Making

The grapes for this wine came from the 10 shortest rows at the western end of Block 14 on our Upton Run vineyard. These vines are planted on a particularly tough and rocky patch of ground which makes them work extremely hard, growing only small canopies and yielding tiny parcels of incredibly concentrated fruit. Recognising the potential of this sun-drenched fruit, we matured the wine for 14 months in 100% new French oak puncheons building layers of complexity whilst allowing the fruit to show itself confidently.

Food Matching

The ripe black and red fruits and firm tannic structure of this Cabernet are the perfect uplift to a
hearty, rich meal. This wine pairs beautifully with beef dishes - such as grilled steak or Scottish beef stew - and it also serves well with aromatic, hard cheeses.

"...This has the depth of its Stone Dwellers sibling, but its power comes from finesse, cassis supplanting blackcurrant as it effortlessly seduces your palate. Every way you look at it, from the front, the back, the sides, it sings. Dial in a taste question and it will answer."
