This Pinot Noir is vibrant cherry red in colour. The nose is filled with strawberries, cherry & spicy oak. The palate is fruit forward and rich. A lovely, balanced Pinot Noir with soft acid & silky tannins.

Wine Making

The fruit for this wine was harvested several days between March 15 - March 30. This wine was fermented at 30°C in high tech sweep-arm fermenters to maximise colour and flavour. We chose to ferment this Pinot Noir using the wild yeast present on the grapes, which enhances complexity and texture. It was then matured for 5 months using 75% new French oak and 25% old French Oak.

2017 was an extreemly late and cold year. This was of benefit for some varieites, and Pinot was one of them! The cool conditions allowed nice delicate strawberry fruit characters to develop at relativley low sugar levels. Despite the late vintage we experienced unusually fast malolactic fermentations which has allowed us to get these lighter style 2017 reds bottled ready much earlier than normal. This wine is a lovely vibrant freh varietal Pinot Noir.
