Growing grapes, hunting for our table and raising a farm all help our family to truly understand this land. Inspired by Matt Fowles’ passion for hunting and gathering, our Ladies who Shoot their Lunch wines have been crafted to complement the textures and flavours of wild food. Vibrant in colour, intensely aromatic and fine in texture with pristine fruit flavours, these wines are a window into the wild for the curious, instinctive, perceptive and discerning.

Medium red in colour with aromas of bright red fruits and complex savoury notes. Ripe cherries, raspberries and rich red fruits are underlined with hints of earthy and herbaceous notes. Tightly structured and youthful with fine tannins and very good length.

Wine Making

2018 was an outstanding vintage. The year was warm without being too hot, which allowed the vines to ripen the fruit to the degree we desired without any stress, resulting in all aspects of fruit composition being good. Acid was naturally maintained and other critical components of the grape for sound fermentation were plentiful. This vintage includes fruit from a number of blocks from different aspects of our vineyard. Fruit was cold soaked for 36 hours prior to being wild fermented in stainless steel. We matured this wine in 50% new French oak puncheons and old French oak casks for six months. Added to the final blend is 5.7% Mouvedre providing brightness of fruit and colour and 3% Sangiovese, adding complexity and savoury notes.
