Ladies who Shoot their Lunch
Growing grapes, hunting for our table and raising a farm all help our family to truly understand this land. Inspired by Matt Fowles’ passion for hunting and gathering, our Ladies who Shoot their Lunch wines have been crafted to complement the textures and flavours of wild food. Vibrant in colour, intensely aromatic and fine in texture with pristine fruit flavours, these wines are a window into the wild for the curious, instinctive, perceptive and discerning.
This Chardonnay brilliant straw in colour. Intense and complex notes of white peach, honey dew and rock melon balanced with subtle oak and buttersctoch notes. A seamless integration of citrus and stone fruits, with some tropical accents. A lovely, full bodied, mouth filling richness with excellent length.
We use a number of different parcels of fruit; some providing the lovely mid-palate richer stone fruits, while others show a citrus and mineral complexity.
As always with our Ladies who Shoot their Lunch Chardonnay, we wild ferment each parcel in a separate barrel giving the wine amazing diversity. We also use a number of different types of French oak barrels to mature the wine; each cooper, or “Tonnelier”, provides its own unique flavours. The combination of all of these variables is what makes this wine of great complexity and quality.
