Our people

Fowles Family.

We're a wild bunch.

At Fowles, we are a motley crew of raconteurs and entrepreneurs, auctioneers, law men, farmers, hunters and wine makers. From the frontier land, our forefathers (and mothers) founded what is now Bendigo Bank. Since then, we've gone wild, settling into a life on the land.

Vigneron, hunter and farmer, Matt Fowles raises the bar, swapping the vitriol of the courtroom for the vineyards of the Strathbogie Ranges. Matt leads a team of characters making wine with character.

Since the gold rush in the 1800's to the first blush of spring every year since, our team of passionate producers continue to break ground. From our family to our friends, it's our hardworking team behind the scenery that pour everything into making Fowles Wine one of Australia's finest cool climate wine producers and one of Victoria's most welcoming farm, food and wine experiences.

Adele Aitken

Adele Aitken, our Head Chef, is a bit of a local legend having spent some time at Mitchelton Wines and the Ruffy Produce Store honing her expertise in locally sourced products.

Adele has created a menu that brings out the best of our region, featuring only the very finest from our own paddocks and those of local producers.

A bit of a green thumb, Adele can often be found tending to her beautiful garden when not working, or spending time with her children.

Giuliano Marcolin

Giuliano began his love affair with food and wine 20 years ago in his home city of Treviso, in the Veneto region, an area renowned for its delicious Prosecco, just north of Venice. Working across his family restaurants as a waiter, barista, cocktail-maker – you name it- he then began to manage restaurants, first in Veneto and later Trento, where he also studied a degree in economics. Leaving Italy in 2004 to travel the world during his gap year, Giuliano somehow got lost along the way, and instead of returning to his homeland he eventually found himself living and working in Melbourne, and managing the Convent Bakery in Abbotsford. In 2012, he joined Fowles Wine, and he and his partner made the beautiful countryside of Avenel their new home. Giuliano has a passion for contemporary art, gardening and fitness, and absolutely loves living in Australia.

Max Hammond

Max Hammond joined Fowles Wine in April 1998 after completing a 20 year Army Career.

In this time he has worked in many positions in the company from the vineyard, to Cellar Door Manager for 8 years where he did NMIT studies and obtained the Certificate for Food Processing (Wine) Cellar Door sales.

Max now works behind the scenes with our administration team.
