Garnet red with medium density.

Some earthy notes with rhubarb, bracken and subtle integrated oak.

Soft and medium bodied, with vibrant red fruit flavours and light tannins.

2019 was the lowest yielding year we have ever seen on the Upton Run vineyard. The result of another warm, dry year with a windy period during flowering which reduced yields. Our Sangiovese vines were 10 years old this year and are becoming mature and producing consistent crops with great vine balance.

The grapes for this wine went through a process of selective harvesting. The wine was fermented at 24 degrees Celsius in stainless steel fermenters to maximise colour and preserve primary fruit flavours. For nine months this wine was matured in French oak. A variety of different yeast strains were used to give the wine palate richness, rich mouthfeel and high levels of aroma with distinct fruitfulness. This process enhanced the classic violet, pepper and raspberry flavours of Sangiovese.
