Deep burgundy red.
Ripe red cherry and earthy mushroom, layered with some confectionary and spice notes.
Medium bodied with excellent fruit structure and balanced oak, fine grained, dusty tannins and great length.
2020 was a warm vintage with low yields providing excellent fruit quality. Pinot Noir grapes ripen very quickly in these conditions so it was critical to monitor closely around harvest to ensure we pick and optimal flavour and ripeness.
This fruit was harvested using a selective processor in early March 2020, from the HA block at our Billis vineyard in the Strathbogie Ranges. The juice was fermented in stainless steel, using wild yeast, which provides complexity and texture in the finished blend. The wine was then matured for 10 months in 2-3 year old French Oak puncheons.
