This arneis is pale gold in colour. On the nose, ripe tropical fruits play with notes of almond meal and lemon. The palate is soft and generous; almond and pear flavours marry with a hint of savoury oak.
2016 was another year of climatic records. Because of the hot and dry conditions so early in the season, there was a need for early irrigation. Vines pushed into an early budburst, early flowering, early veraison and, ultimately, an early harvest. Our arneis fruit, however, managed to wear this early dry spell, ripening relatively late in the season. This year, we decided to explore the varietal's possibilities further by making a riper style than the previous vintage.
With the riper, richer style of our arneis this vintage we think it matches well with lobster thermidor cooked over a campfire and a green salad.
